There have been countless hours that I have just gone to the SFAC to sit and talk to someone. They have been my family away from home and have been there for me through the tough times and celebrated with me during the good. I have spent a year and one month at Fort Sam in Med Hold and the SFAC and their staff have been instrumental in my recovery and my reintegration back into civilian life. there have been countless hours that I have just gone to the SFAC to sit and talk to someone. They have been my family away from home and have been there for me through the tought times and celebrated with me during the good. When they found out that my family hadn't been able to visit me they took steps and insured that any and all road blocks that were preventing a visit were removed.
I had no idea that this kind of support awaited my arrival from Iraq and was both suprised and relieved by their caring and tenacity of taking care of the soldiers. This facility is constantly getting the soldiers involved, in some cases, doing things away from their normal foutine. Things that let the soldiers know that no matter how injured they are, there are thing for them after they leave here. They build the soldiers up and support the families here and abroad to make sure that the soldier's transition is as smooth as possible.
It's loke going into the den during a family reunion. You never know exactly who is going to be there but you know that whoever is there is going to be glad to see you and ready to help with whatever they can.
